The Belly: A City District for Cloud Empress

A vast fungal growth clings to the metal underside of cloud city Upsilon, the tangled mass of mycelia belying a thriving underworld of innovation and resourcefulness. While Belly Tenders harvest fruiting bodies and collect water from hyphal tips, messenger pigeon-rats scurry underfoot, and rebel Martlets scheme against the Lordlings above in bars and back rooms. The Sulfur Queen watches them all from below, amassing wealth from her sale of black powder.
The Belly is a fungal-themed 10-page setting zine for the Cloud Empress table top roleplaying game. The zine contains:
- 15-hex map with hex descriptions and an encounter table
- 3 new character types
- 21 new fungus-themed items
- 1 new NPC
The Belly is a district in the tilting cloud city Upsilon, a setting created in collaboration with a group of Cloud Empress wardens. Links to additional city districts will be added here as they are released:
- Cult Capita: The surface level of the city, Cult Capita is home to all things magical and mystical. Here you'll find occult shops, fortune tellers, and arcane peddlers.
- Antaglos: A city under a city, Antaglos's abandoned factories and dilapidated manors have recently whirred back to life. This layer is directly below Cult Capita
- Agapee: A floating prison just off the edge of the city, Agapee is a terrifying place where strange experiments take place.

If I had to live in one of Upsilon City's districts for real I'd choose the Belly. Is that weird? I don't think so. I'd want one of those gliders so I could swoop around with the other windriders and drop Martlet leaflets among the Sulphur Queen's factory workers, proselytizing the freedom of the skies. The Belly provides lots of potential trouble for a party to get into. It's a great location from which to launch a CE campaign.
